For optimal performance, you should use Outlook 2003 in cached mode. To enable cached mode:

- Close Outlook.
- Go to Start Settings Control Panel and double-click the Mail icon.
- Go to Start > - Click Email Accounts.
- Go to Start > Settings > - Select View or change existing e-mail accounts; click Next.
- Select "Microsoft .phpExchange Server"; click Change.
- Check the "Use Cached .phpExchange Mode" box; then click More Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Check Download Public Folder Favorites and click OK.
- You will now be back at the .phpExchange Server Settings window. Click Next.
- Click on Finish.

The next time you launch Outlook it will download and make an offline copy of all your Mailbox folders and any Public Folders that are in your Public Folder's Favorites.
